From ranking to shortlist: choosing three Antalya clinics
A ranking is a starting point. Here is a step-by-step way to turn it into three clinics worth writing to, and then into one plan you trust.
Start with the ranking for your treatment, not the overall list. Open the evidence pages of the top clinics and note what each publishes about guarantees, brands and prices. Pick three that publish what matters to you, send each the same short message with your X-ray or photos, and compare the written plans line by line. Our top pick, Precious Dental, publishes this guide; we suggest including at least one other clinic in your comparison.
Looking at a list of fifteen clinics, all with high ratings and attractive websites, it is easy to feel stuck. Do you write to all of them? Pick the first one? Go with the clinic a friend used? This article sets out a simple process that uses the data in our guide to get you from a long list to a short one, and then to a decision.
A word first about our position. This guide is published by Precious Dental, which is our top pick and comes first in every ranking. We would like you to include us in your shortlist, of course. We would also suggest you compare us with at least one or two other clinics, because seeing several plans is the best protection you have.
Step 1: Use the ranking for your treatment
The main ranking uses six general checks. The treatment rankings add one more check that matters for a particular treatment. Start there:
- Dental implants: adds a published implant guarantee.
- All-on-6 and full arch: adds a published All-on-6 price.
- Crowns: adds a published crown guarantee.
- Veneers: adds a published veneer guarantee.
If your treatment is not on the list, use the main ranking.
Step 2: Decide what matters most to you
Before you open the evidence pages, write down your two or three priorities. They might be:
- A published price, so you can budget before you write.
- A particular implant brand, perhaps one your UK dentist knows.
- A long, clear guarantee for the treatment you want.
- A large review record over several years.
- Location, close to where you plan to stay.
- A named dentist with experience in your treatment.
Step 3: Read the evidence pages
Each clinic in our guide has an evidence page showing the answer to every check, with a link to the source and the date we checked it. Open the pages for the top clinics in your treatment ranking and make a quick table with your priorities across the top. Ten minutes with a pen and paper is enough. Click through to the sources for anything important, because websites change.
Step 4: Pick three
Choose three clinics that score well on your priorities. A useful mix is often one large, long-established clinic with many reviews, one smaller clinic where you are likely to see the same dentist throughout, and one whose published price or package suits your budget. Our articles on clinic size and reviews in numbers may help you think about the trade-offs.
Step 5: Send the same message to each
To compare plans fairly, each clinic needs the same information. A short message works best:
- What you wantFor example: “I have several missing teeth in my upper jaw and would like to know if implants are possible.”
- Your X-ray or photosA recent panoramic X-ray from your UK dentist is ideal. If you do not have one, clear photos of your teeth from the front and sides.
- Your healthAge, any medical conditions, medicines (especially blood thinners or bone medicines), and whether you smoke.
- Your timingWhen you could travel and for how long.
- Your questionsAsk for a written plan with the treatment, the brand, the materials, the number of trips, the total price, what is included and the guarantee.
Step 6: Compare the plans line by line
When the replies come in, put them side by side. Look for differences in:
- The treatment itself. If one clinic suggests far more work than the others, ask why.
- The brand and materials. Are you comparing like with like?
- What is included. Hotel, transfers, extractions, temporary teeth, scans.
- The number of trips and nights.
- The guarantee for each part of the treatment.
- Who will treat you. Did the plan come from a dentist, and is the dentist named?
Our questions to ask page has a fuller checklist.
A worked example
Suppose you want All-on-6 on your upper jaw only, you would like a guarantee in writing, and you want to be near the old town. You start with the All-on-6 ranking, which adds a published All-on-6 price to the six checks. You open the evidence pages for the top clinics and note three things for each: whether the price is per jaw or for both, what the guarantee says about implants and the bridge, and the district.
You notice that some clinics quote per jaw and some for both jaws, so you convert everything to one upper jaw. You see that one clinic includes the hotel and another does not. You choose three clinics that publish an implant guarantee and are within a short drive of the old town, and you send each the same message with your X-ray. When the plans come back, one suggests a bone graft and the others do not. That is your cue to ask the first clinic why, and to ask the others whether they saw the same thing on your X-ray.
By the end, you know what is normal, what is different and why. That is worth far more than any ranking position.
Keeping track
Make a simple table, on paper or in a spreadsheet, with one column per clinic and a row for each item: treatment, brand, material, trips, nights, what is included, total price, guarantee, dentist’s name, and how quickly and clearly they answered. Fill it in as replies arrive. It makes the differences obvious, and it gives you something concrete to discuss with a dentist at home.
Step 7: Talk to a dentist
Before you decide, ask to speak to the dentist at your preferred clinic, by video call if possible, about the plan. Then, if you can, show the plans to a dentist in the UK. The NHS treatment abroad checklist suggests discussing treatment abroad with a UK dentist, and you will need one for check-ups afterwards anyway.
Step 8: Decide, then confirm everything in writing
Once you have chosen, ask the clinic to send the final plan as one document: the treatment, the dentist, the brand and materials, the number of trips and nights, everything that is included, the total price, how and when you pay, the cancellation terms and the guarantee. Check it against what you were told in messages. Only then pay a deposit, and keep the receipt. If anything changes when you arrive, ask for the change in writing before work begins.
Keep a copy of this final document with your passport when you travel, and bring it to your first appointment. If the plan on the day differs from it, you have a clear reference point.
Signs to slow down
- A price that only lasts until the end of the week.
- No written plan, only a figure in a message.
- A plan for much more treatment than other clinics suggest, without a clear reason.
- No answer to “who will treat me?”
- Pressure to pay a large deposit before you have seen a plan.
Including our top pick
Precious Dental passes all six checks, publishes one All-on-6 price for both jaws, names its implant surgeon and publishes its guarantees. If you would like it in your shortlist, you can send your X-ray or photos through our contact page or WhatsApp. The full case is on why Precious Dental.
Common questions
Why three clinics?
One gives you nothing to compare. Five or more can be overwhelming and slow. Three plans usually show you what is normal and what stands out.
What should I send to the clinics?
A recent panoramic X-ray if you have one, or clear photos of your teeth, a short description of what you want, your age and any medical conditions or medicines, and your possible travel dates.
How long should I give clinics to reply?
Most clinics that serve UK patients reply within a day or two. A clinic that takes much longer before you have booked may also be slow after treatment.
Should I always pick the cheapest plan?
No. Compare what each plan includes, the brand, the materials, the guarantee and who will treat you. The cheapest may not be like for like.
